A south suburban business recently sold a million-dollar lottery ticket.
A customer at K N R Candy on River Oaks Drive walked away with a $1 million prize after buying a ticket for Monday’s Powerball numbers of 3-6-11-17-22.
Kirit Patel, owner of K N R Candy, said in an Illinois Lottery news release that it was an exciting day at his store.
The retailer who sells the winning ticket will receive a bonus of $10,000.

“Our customers have become a part of our extended family because we have been serving our community for over 20 years,” he said in the news release. We are all hoping that the winner is someone that frequents our store because we know most of our customers by their first name.
According to the news release, Patel said he would use the money to do something special for his employees and invest the rest back into the business.
Some Illinois Lottery participants have had a particularly good year. The largest lottery prize ever won in Illinois and the third largest prize in the history of the U.S. was won by a player in Des Plaines a few months ago, with a Mega Millions ticket.
