Early Life

Hoda Kotb was born on August 9th in Norman, Oklahoma. As a child, her family moved frequently, being raised by Egyptian-born, Muslim parents. During her time in Morgantown, West Virginia, and Alexandria, Virginia, she spent time with her brother and sister. When she was a child, she lived in countries such as Egypt and Nigeria. Her mother works at the Library of Congress, while her father was a fossil energy specialist.

When she joined CBS, she started her career with an affiliate station in Mississippi. She was employed by ABC in Illinois during the late 80s. She worked out of Florida for CBS until the early 90s, taking on a more substantial role as a reporter and anchor. She spent most of the 90s working as an anchor for CBS in New Orleans. During this time, Kotb fell in love with the city of New Orleans and its unique culture.

NBC was the network that would eventually propel her to considerable fame and success, and in 1998 was a defining year in her career as she joined. She was a correspondent for a variety of NBC News programs.

In 2007, she hosted Today for the first time, at the same time that Kathy Lee Gifford hosted the fourth-hour morning broadcast of Today Alongside Kathy Lee Gifford. She replaced Matt Lauer as co-anchor after 2018 she was dismissed for sexual harassment accusations. The first female duo to host Today since its inception in 1952 co-anchored the show with her. Over the course of her journalism career, Kotb has won a number of awards.

The 2010 bestselling memoir, “How I Survived War Zones, Bad Hair, Cancer, and Kathie Lee” was written by Hoda. Three other books that focus on inspirational stories and details from her personal life have been released by Kotb. There are two children’s books that have been published by Kotb.

Personal Life

Although Hoda Kotb’s first husband, Burziz Kanga, was a tennis coach but divorced in 2008. In 2007, Katie Kotb had a successful mastectomy to remove breast cancer. She underwent reconstructive surgery after the accident. After this experience, Kotba became passionate about raising cancer awareness.

The relationship between Kotb and Joel Schiffman, a financier started in 2013. She adopted two babies and got engaged to Schiffman in 2019.

Salary

 Hoda Kotb signed a new contract with a new salary when she replaced Matt Lauer on Today. It is said that this salary is between $8 million and $10 million per year.

Real Estate

It’s easy for Hoda to commute to NBC’s studio each workday because she lives in an Upper Manhattan apartment with her family. The Point Lookout hamlet of New York is where Kotb purchased an additional home in the last year. A private swimming dock is a feature of the $2 million waterfront home.
