Powerball jackpot jumps to $401 million
All five numbers must be matched to win the grand prize. The chances of that occurring? It is less than 1 in 292 million.

The $400 million Powerball prize is the largest in the game’s history and continues a weekslong winless streak.
The grand prize for Monday night was $400 million dollars, with a cash option of $205 million. The winning numbers on Monday were 3-6-11- 17-22 with the Powerball 11 and Power Play 2.
If there are no winners in the next drawing, lottery enthusiasts can continue to gamble their chances for a prize the next Powerball drawing on Wednesday, Oct. 12.
Even if the grand prize isn’t won, the possibility of a million-dollar prize is still out of the question. The lottery game said one person in New York matched the five numbers to win a million dollars.

The Mega Millions has climbed to a nearly half-billion-dollar prize, and is one of the lottery games teasing a major prize.
After no one won the top prize on Friday, the Mega Millions prize is now estimated to be $445 million. Most winners choose the lump cash option, which is $226 million. According to Mega Millions, this is the third year in a row that the Mega Millions prize has surpassed $400 million.
In July, Americans were in a lottery frenzy until a winner in Illinois took home near-record $1.377. Two people came forward last month to claim that prize, but chose not to be identified.
The world record for largest prize won in a single year is held by Powerball, which has a prize of over 1.5 billion dollars prize won in 2016.
