An American football offensive tackle with a net worth of $16 million is named Michael Oher. The story of Oher’s life was chronicled in the film “The Blind Side”, which won an Academy Award.

On May 28, 1986 in Memphis, Tennessee, Michael Oher was born. Oher is the child of an alcoholic and crack cocaine addiction and a father who was frequently in prison.

He was not given much attention or discipline during his childhood, due to his upbringing He attended eleven different schools during his first nine years as a student, after repeating both first and second grades.

At a public high school in Memphis, Oher began playing football his freshman year.

At the beginning of his senior year, Oher was the starting left tackle on the football team. He was a runner-up in the discus as a senior in high school. 

He quickly became a top football prospect in the state of Tennessee and received scholarship offers from Division 1 schools. 

He had received scholarship offers from Tennessee, LSU, Alabama, and South Carolina, but he chose to play football for the Ole Miss Rebels.

After the 2008 season, Oher was recognized as a first-team All-American, and made the honor roll for the second time in his college career.

Before he graduated, Oher was projected to be one of the top prospects for the 2009 NFL Draft.

Oher signed a four-year, $20 million dollar contract with the TennesseeTitans in March of 2014.

Oher signed a three year contract extension with the Carolinas in June of 2016 that was worth $21.6 million. He was released by the panthers after a failed physical in July 20, 2017.
