Winners of tickets for $494M Mega Millions jackpot sold in Florida, California
According to the Mega Millions website, two ticketholders won the grand prize in Friday night’s drawing.
The tickets were sold in the states of California and Florida. The six winning numbers were 9, 22, 26, 41, and 44, plus the gold Mega Ball 19.
The Mega Millions grand prize is the eleventh largest in the history of the show. The two ticketholders are going to take home $247 million each.
According to Mega Millions, the first two ticketholders in five years to share a Mega Millions grand prize are the winners of Friday’s lottery. The last time there were two winning tickets in the same drawing was in October 13, 2017.
After ticketholders in Illinois claimed the historic $1.334 billion prize from the previous drawing on July 29, Friday’s $494 million windfall had been building.
There were three million-dollar tickets sold in New Jersey, North Carolina, and Texas. According to Mega Millions, the Texas ticketholder paid extra to play the multipliers, making that particular ticket worth $2 million.
